What Is Included in a Welding Equipment Hire Package?

Hiring welding equipment is one of the most flexible and cost-effective ways to support fabrication projects, site work, shutdowns, maintenance activities and temporary increases in workload.

In this blog, we'll explain what is included in a welding equipment hire package, what additional equipment may be required and how to ensure your project has everything needed to get started immediately.

Why Hire a Complete Welding Package?

When hiring equipment, the goal is simple: to get you up and running as quickly as possible. Hiring a complete package also ensures that all supplied equipment is compatible, tested and ready for use.

A professional welding equipment hire package is designed to provide the core equipment required for the welding process you've selected, helping minimise delays and avoid the inconvenience of sourcing components separately.

What's Included with a MIG Welder Hire Package?

MIG welding is one of the most commonly hired welding processes due to its versatility and productivity. Our MIG hire fleet includes compact single-phase 110v or 230v machines ideal for light fabrication and site work, all the way up to heavy-duty water-cooled 415v packages for high-duty-cycle production welding.

Each package comes 'ready-to-weld' and includes the machine, MIG gun, earth lead, gas regulator and flowmeter.

If you also need welding gas and wire, just ask, we'll be happy to help.

What's Included with a TIG Welder Hire Package?

TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding is the process of choice for precision work, thin materials, stainless steel and aluminium fabrication. Our TIG hire fleet covers both air-cooled and water-cooled options across a wide amperage range.

Each TIG machine package comes 'ready-to-weld' including the machine, TIG torch, earth lead, gas regulator and flowmeter.

It will be fitted with torch consumables and a tungsten, but if you need any more torch consumables, welding gas or wire, just let us know when you order.

What's Included with MMA (Stick) Welding Hire?

MMA welding equipment is generally straightforward and highly portable. Manual Metal Arc (MMA or 'stick') welding remains a staple process for structural work, field repairs and welding in challenging conditions such as wind, rain or contaminated materials. Our MMA hire units are robust, straightforward and suitable for 110V, 230V and 415V supplies.

Our MMA (Stick) Welders are supplied with earth and electrode leads as standard, so you can start using it as soon as it arrives.

What's Included with Plasma Cutter Hire?

For clean, fast cutting of steel, stainless steel and aluminium, plasma cutting is the benchmark process. RentArc hire stock includes the Hypertherm Powermax range, widely regarded as the industry standard for reliability and cut quality.

Options range from the portable 110V / 230V Powermax 30 AIR (with built-in compressor, no external air supply needed) through to higher-amperage 415V units capable of cutting plate up to 50mm thick.

When you rent a Plasma Cutter from Rentarc, it will come complete with a torch and earth lead.  We also always supply a selection of plasma torch spares, which are enough to get you going.  If you need more, just let us know.

Additional Equipment You May Need

While the welding machine is often the primary focus, many projects require additional equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Fume Extraction

One of the most important considerations for indoor welding operations. Since updated HSE guidance was introduced, businesses must ensure welding fume is adequately controlled through suitable extraction systems.

Welder Generators

If mains power is unavailable, a welder generator may be required. These units combine a generator and welding power source into a single package, making them ideal for:

  • Construction sites

  • Pipeline projects

  • Agricultural repairs

  • Remote maintenance work

Welding Positioners and Rotators

For fabrication projects involving pipes, vessels or large assemblies, positioners and rotators can significantly improve productivity and weld quality. These systems are often hired alongside welding equipment for specialist fabrication projects.

Induction Heating Equipment

Where welding procedures require pre-heating or post-weld heat treatment, induction heating systems can be supplied as part of the overall package.

What About PPE?

Ensuring PPE is available before work begins helps avoid delays and supports compliance with health and safety requirements. Welding helmets, gloves, sleeves and flame-resistant clothing are essential. RentArc can supply PPE. Ensure your workforce is properly equipped.

Is the Equipment Tested Before Delivery?

A reputable welding equipment hire provider should ensure all equipment is thoroughly inspected before dispatch.

At RentArc, equipment is tested, maintained and prepared before every hire, helping ensure it arrives on-site ready to perform. This reduces the risk of downtime and gives customers confidence that equipment will operate as expected.
